Late Applications

Late Applications: September 2026 Intake

The national closing date for primary school applications was 15 January 2026. If you have not yet applied for a school place for your child, please follow the guidance below based on the current date.

 When is an application "Late"?

There are two stages of late applications in the Sutton admissions process:

  • Late with a "Good Reason" (Until 12 February 2026): If you missed the 15 January deadline due to a genuine reason (such as a house move into the borough or a serious family illness), you must submit your application and supporting evidence by 12 February 2026. If Sutton Council accepts your reason, your application will be treated as "on-time."

  • Late without a Good Reason (After 15 January 2026): Any application submitted after 15 January without an accepted reason will not be considered until after all on-time applications have been processed. These applicants will generally not receive an offer until after the National Offer Day.

How to Make a Late Application

Even if the deadline has passed, you should apply as soon as possible:

  • Apply Online: The e-Admissions website remains open for late applications until August. This is the fastest way to apply.

  • Paper Applications: If you are unable to apply online, you must email suttonadmissions@cognus.org.uk to request a paper form.

  • Provide Evidence: If you are applying late because you have moved into Sutton, you must provide evidence of your new address (e.g., a tenancy agreement or exchange of contracts) to the Sutton Admissions Team immediately.
