How is the effectiveness of provision monitored and reviewed?
Lesson monitoring
Teaching and Learning is monitored through lesson and intervention observations, learning walks and book scrutinies. Effectiveness of specialist interventions, such as Lego Therapy or social skills groups, is monitored and reviewed. Training is offered to all staff to ensure skills and areas of expertise are matched to areas of need.
Pupil progress meetings
Assessment and evaluation of all pupils, including those with SEND, is ongoing by the class teacher, and is monitored by the Senior Leadership Team at termly Pupil Progress Review Meetings. The progress of children with SEND is considered in the context of the whole school, and assessed against local and national averages. Where necessary, further interventions will be put into place for children who are not deemed to be making expected progress.
Learning Support Plans
The provision for our children with SEND is closely monitored and evaluated. Learning support plans are reviewed termly and the progress made by children is evaluated. Parent and pupil voice are central to the review process and the setting of new targets; parents are offered the opportunity to discuss their child’s learning support plan each term.
Annual review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
In addition to the termly review meetings to discuss learning support plans, we review the provision for children with EHCPs through the annual review process. The annual review is a statutory meeting where your child's EHCP is reviewed and updated, ensuring support continues to meet evolving needs and aspirations. For children under 5, EHCPs are reviewed after 6 months, rather than annually.
In a minority of cases, an interim review may take place earlier if:
- the child or young person's education, health or social care needs have changed and are no longer accurately described in the EHC plan, or
-
the education, health or social care provision in the EHC plan is no longer meeting the child or young person's needs.

If the child or young person has been excluded from school or is at risk of exclusion, this would also be a good reason to ask for an interim review.
For children under 5, EHCPs are reviewed after 6 months, rather than annually.
